About Me

Everyone has a grandmother. A Na-Na, a Mi-Mi, G-ma, Gran-MawMaw, a Pocky, and even a Mamaw. As girls growing up, our creativity was highly influenced by our Mamaw. So all the things we create, obsess over, construct, or do comes from her. Hope you enjoy looking as much as we like doing. This blog is a combined creation of us as sisters, with our Mamaw's Influence.

Halloween Pasts...

As Halloween over the years go by, there's always a few favorite things that stick in my mind. Some are great props worked on for weeks, others are last minute "OMG's".... Hope you get a laugh or an idea from some of my fav's...

My favorite way to "hand out" candy!!
This is a foam skeleton attached to a bar stool.
The candy cauldron is sitting on the stool.
This is at the end of the haunted house...
and the kids are ususlly so scared they run out without taking any!!!

a couple of  dollar store pics paired with a talking magic ball
in the hallway where the lightbulb was replaced with a red party bulb
makes for a scary se'ance table...

The "gut walls" have been used in 12 different
places in the past 7 years! My favorite home-made wall.
It's the insulation spray foam sprayed on plywood and painted red.
Plastic parts and eyeballs are stuck in the sticky foam.
Black and gray shades the rest and voila'...
instant barrier!

My favorite "ooops" turned prop.
When the roof leaked the week before Halloween,
and I didn't have time to repair it...
half a mannequin with clown head "detached"
Hung it from the hole in the ceiling...

Another favorite homemade prop is the ouija board.
Just a piece of wood sanded and computer printed letters glued on.
One of my favorite sweets, the cauldron cupcakes,
made by my 10 yr old daughter!
Chocolate mini-cupcakes

I We have so many costumes,
there's  an extra closet just for the special day! LOL

Our scary front porch...well it was scary last night! LOL

creme cheese spread onto a plastic skull and covered with
thin sliced ham. Made for a great center piece for the "BOO-ffet"

this is a prop built on a standing oscillating fan. I took the blades
off and just used the left-right motion. Not only was she stirring the
cauldron but she waved to the passer-bys!

took an old plastic baby doll and cut the stomach out. Lined it with a
plastic baggy and filled with picant'e. Chips were laying all around and
she had a fake IV bag! Chips were "blue corn" (black) and
Doritos (orange)

this is a better shot of the "BOO-ffet table"

the cups were 50% off at the dollar store after Halloween
last year! Added some of the "Witchin' Kitchin" stuff and made
the "boo-ffet table"

a tree stump made with chicken wire and old
Thrifty Nickle newspapers. Painted brown with some
old paint from the barn. Added a stuffed scary bat and
twinkle lites. The crow on top was found at Dollar Tree
after Halloween last year for .50!

another tree embelished with craft moss and crows...
mostly women were scared of these. THe fog and scary music added to it too! LOL

Halloween pictures could go on & on & on with me...so i'll stop at my top 10 props and save space for another day.
