We had an outdoor birthday party request in the middle of July in Texas. It was to be held outdoors and accommodate "tweenies". Young ladies that were too old for birthday parties, but still wanted to celebrate. Luau's had been done a dozen times already, and the birthday girl requested "something different". Here's what we came up with:
The Birthday girl and her special guests were seated at the table adorned with candles and chandeliers. Tea cups were the running theme and stemware was added for "pizzaz". Her birthday cake...rainbow cake with butter creme icing.
Jordan almonds in pastels, 100's of cupcakes, tea cookies, and fortune cookies. The lollipops had her initial and Happy 13th Birthday printed on them. Tins with mints were also customized with her name and inscription. A candy buffet with cookies and candy of all kind.
The guests table...
The fence was decorated with paper pennants and flowers.
Decorations in the corner. Her Happy Birthday sign.
Any drink you could imagine. The candy buffet in all its glory.
Now, here's the real story. 85% of the items used for decorating were garage sale finds, Goodwill bargains, recycled goodies, up-cycled prizes, thrift store deals, and downright trash to another person. That's where "Mamaw's Influence" comes in. We take the old, ugly, broken and bad and turn it into new, beautiful, "pretties" (as Sister calls them). As we build our blog and make new pretties, we'll do step by steps and helpful hints so maybe our Mamaw can Influence you! :-)
